ADVANCED TRAINING OVERVIEW
The advanced course, TAP® PAP Combination Therapy for Severe Sleep Apnea, will equip experienced sleep dentists with the skills to treat patients who have failed CPAP therapy, oral appliance therapy or both.
Dentists will learn how to manage the therapy of severe sleep apnea patients and patients with complicated cases or special needs. Hands-on time is dedicated to teach dentists how to work with a new, hybrid device that combines mandibular
protrusion with positive airway pressure.
HANDS ON COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on hands-on, skills-based instruction and practical workshops. It also provides attendees the
opportunity to meet with other dental sleep medicine practitioners to compare notes and share cases for peer input.
Dentists who complete this course will receive certification that will signify their level of skills-based competency
and document the completion of advanced training. In addition to expert classroom and hands on instruction, each student will receive the following materials:
A course book of all lectures, including guidelines how to integrate it into your practice.
One TAP® 3 TL for use in the course.
One TAP® PAP CS Mask.
One TAP® PAP CS Mask to be fabricated from casts after the course.
A home sleep test with a pulse-oximeter to familiarize yourself with recommended equipment.
Demonstration models.
Marketing materials.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the course, participants will:
Learn core, evidence-based concepts that ensure optimal treatment results and quality of care.
Be equipped with the skills to treat severe sleep apnea, manage complicated cases of sleep disordered breathing and troubleshoot problems that arise over the course of treatment.
Develop knowledge and skills for working with an interdisciplinary team to make appropriate treatment decisions and achieve optimal results.
Discuss case studies and scenarios that face the dental sleep medicine practitioner when working with patients with severe disease and unique cases.
Learn the fundamentals of TAP® PAP Combination Therapy, the only device on the market that combines mandibular protrusion with positive airway pressure.
Practice fitting another student with a TAP® PAP Chairside (CS) combination device and learn how to take a facial impression for a TAP® PAP Custom (CM) combination device.

CE CREDITS
Up to 14 hours of continuing education credits are available to clinicians who complete courses held at the Dental
Institute of Sleep Medicine. Baylor College of Dentistry Department of Continuing Education provides both ADA
CERP credits as well as AGD PACE credits to our students.
PRE-COURSE PREPARATION
Each participant will receive his or her own custom oral appliance (TAP® 3) for use during the course. Please send the dentist and assistant's personal dental casts and bite registration at 60% protrusion no later than 2 weeks before the course to:

COURSE TIMES
